Julia Fiona Roberts, born 28th October 1967 in Atlanta to Betty Lou Bredemus & Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is fourth in the Roberts generation living in Atlanta that began with her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. Her father took his first steps towards theater. While attending Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus and in Atlanta. While in Biloxi in Mississippi, he got part of a military unit in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957 they quit the Air Force and Walter began his studies at Tulane University. Walter worked for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and moved into Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the local children's Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they themselves funded. They later founded the Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for six years. They welcomed in 1965 two young children, Lelisa Billingsley as well as Julia Billingsley.
