April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born on July 4 in 1995. When she was in the 7th grade she began taking piano and guitar lessons. It was this that ignited her love to write songs. In April, when she was 12 years old She composed her debut single Different. At the age of 14, April devoted a great deal of time in writing song ideas and practicing the music she was playing. The following months, she began taking writing excursions with her father to LA as well as NY. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for the people in her life who are struggling with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. Lockhart was born with no left hand. It's part of who she is--but that's not the entire story. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook the fact that she has a disability. However, it doesn't insist on the issue. What message does it convey? This is the message That we all carry numerous identities. We're much way more diverse than we think we're. Lockhart tells Lockhart in a video interview "I do not believe that disability should define me. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability, because I've many more things to contribute." It doesn't impact my daily life. I go about my business as usual and have developed my own ways to adapt. It's a big part of my life, therefore it's important that we talk about it. Her journey to self-acceptance is one that will last a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration in this regard. Yet, she confesses that she has had periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes that showed her arms. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post photos in those outfits to social media with pride. The key to self-love for her is that it's not an end goal. It's the same for everybody regardless of how much they are afraid. The people around you with that truly understand you, and can see inside your soul are the ones you should be relying on who can remind you of the things you're worried about.
